06/ 13/ 00 New York City Public Schools Arts Program

BASF and CowParade Holdings have donated 50 cows – 40 for students and 10 for art teachers – to the New York City Board of Education for a system-wide competition. Students and teachers from all five boroughs submitted more than 200 designs for the competition. The winning entries are placed near the school so the neighborhood can enjoy its homegrown talent. BASF also sponsored an additional 5 cows, which were painted by students at PS 100 in the Bronx in conjunction with Studio in a School. By “adopting” the 55 public school cows, BASF became the largest sponsor of CowParade New York 2000. BASF, a global chemical company based in Ludwighafen, Germany, offers a range of high-performance products, including innovative and high-value-added chemicals, plastics, colorants, automotive and industrial coatings, crop protection agents, pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals as well as crude oil, natural gas and petrochemicals. BASF is expanding business in health and nutrition and is strengthening oil and gas operations in Europe and other markets. Special thanks to Lascaux Paints and their U.S. distributor Savoir Faire for their generous donation of paint for the New York City schools project.
